Activities around La Azohia

There are plenty of activities and places of interest to keep the whole family entertained on a trip to La Azohia.


The Fuensanta and El Valle Natural Park
The patron saint of Murcia is La Virgen de la Fuensanta. A shrine is dedicated to her, 3,75 miles (6 km) to the south of the city. From here visitors can enjoy splendid views over the Huerta. Continuing on, you arrive at El Valle Natural Park, areas of which have an almost lunar like appearance. The park is of great geological importance. From the panoramic view point, the "Cresta del Gallo" (The Cock's Crest), which is set at the foot of the peak from which it gets its name, one can enjoy impressive scenery. Following along the road you arrive at another vantage view point "Columbares" which is south facing. The total distance of the excursion is approximately 20 miles (32 km).

Castillo de Monteagudo
This castle is 2,5 miles (4 km) from the city along the N-340 in the direction of Alicante.

Alcantarilla
At 6,3 miles (10 km) from the city, here you can visit the Museo de la Huerta.

Cartagena
The second largest city in the region and home to an important naval base.

La Manga del Mar Menor
This stretch of land separates the Mar Menor, which is an inland sea, from the Mediterranean. It boasts both exceptional climate and landscape and has been extensively developed for the tourist industry to take advantage of these factors.

Lorca
An interesting town boasting a diverse selection of monuments. Located at 40 miles (64 km) from the city of Murcia.

Jardines de Floridablanca
Set in the city centre on the right hand bank of the River Segura, this charming park is a peaceful place home to caged birds in the style of a small park. It can be found between the Alameda de Colon and the Calle de la Princesa not far from the bridges Puente Viejo and Puente Pasarela.

Diving
There is a dive school in Puerto Mazarron and is highly recommended. They are call Cota Dive School and the main guide is called Tony.

Torrevieja Water Park
The Torrevieja water park is one of the biggest water parks on the Costa Blanca, and is very popular with children, teenagers and adults. Torrevieja Fiestas There are some beautiful fiestas in Spain. One site to visit is Torrevieja Information and this will give greater details of the times and dates of fiestas, if you would like your holiday to coincide with a fiesta it is worth looking up and finding whats on when you are planning to go.

Snorkelling
The snorkelling is beautiful in the area of La Azohia, with a pair of scuba masks and snokels already supplied in the apartment.

Walking Tours
The area is surrounded with the most beautiful walks, with some sites in La Azohia and also there is a local chap that is very experienced and will help arrange your walking break. Otherwise there is some beautiful parks in the surround areas, they are a drive away but if you would like more information please let me know and I will get details for you.

Gun Batteries at Cabo Tinoso
The highest battery at Cabo Tinoso at 345 metres above see level, this was an anti aircraft site equipped withVickers 105/45 guns. The architecture of the buildings was very fancy with Ionian columns and features in a Classic style.

La Manga Golf Club—Los Belones
Opened in 1971, the north and south courses at La Manga are located in a valley surrounded by mountains and with stunning views of the Mar Menor. Palm trees abound in these two courses, while the west course, sited in a mountain was carved out of a pine forest. The club offers an excellent golf shop, caddies and one of the best practice areas to be found in Spain, with 90 driving range bays, 3 putting greens, short game area and practice bunker. Camposol Golf Club
The Camposal Golf Club is located just 10 minutes drive away from the coastal town of Puerto de Mazarron. The course is made up of 9 holes, and is a 2801 (men's) or 2654 (ladies) metre par 36 offering. An additional 9 holes are in the process of construction. Facilities at the club include, clubhouse, bar and restaurant. Regular evening entertainment is put on at the clubhouse without charge.

La Manga Casino
There is one Casino near the La Manga strip offering blackjack tables, roulette, slot machines etc. Entrance for the general public requires (free) membership so do not forget your passports or you will not be allowed in. Additionally you must be minimum 18 years old and although the dress code is normally fairly relaxed, those wearing shorts and tee shirts will not be admitted. The Casino Costa Calida is located alongside the Hyatt Regency Hotel at the exclusive La Manga Country Club. It features a choice of 40 a lot machines and 20 gaming tables in sumptuous surroundings. La Manga Tennis
La Manga Club Resort has earned its reputation a the premier destination in Europe for tennis. Located in the heart of the resort, the 28 floodlit clay, artificial grass and green-set courts are also now the official winter base for the English LTA and allow you to enjoy a match all year round, day and night. Opened 8am to 10pm all year round, caters for individuals and groups and prides itself on the professional and personalised service it provides. The fully qualified English speaking coaches are available for private or group tuition, tow or three hour lessons.

La Manga del Mar Menor - Mud Therapy
The Mar Menor offers the visitor the largest open-air mud therapy area in Europe. The muds are located in several Mar Menor places. The best know area is “Las Charcas de las Salinas” in Lo Pagan (North Mar Menor) Other areas are El Ciervo island and Los Alemanes beech. The muds are of easy absorption. They increase body’s absorption of minerals and stimulate bone problems healing. Its usage is recommended for skip problems, rheumatism, arthritis, gout, throat infections and rehabilitation.
